Having a mom that is also a hairstylist, Marisa has grown up in the hair world. She first showed an interest in hair when she was younger and would "practice" on her friends and herself. She decided on a career in the hair industry pretty quickly after high school and graduated hair school in 2000. Since then, Marisa has been busy in the hair industry for over 20 years. She moved to San Francisco where she decided that she wanted to specialize in the cutting side of the industry. From SF, to NY, to LA, Marisa has always worked in busy salons where she builds up a clientele with her friendly personality and her attention to individual needs. She has taken many advanced cutting classes over the years at Toni & Guy and Bumble and bumble and continues to always want to grow and perfect her cutting skills. She loves using the razor to create easy to maintain hairstyles that grow out really well. She has a good eye for detail and wants people to feel good about themselves. When Marisa is not doing hair she is probably hanging out in the good weather with her two dogs.

Wade runs the ship over here! From repairs to folding towels and all things behind the scenes, Wade is keeping things running smoothly in the shop. With his own bare hands he built the salon out and poured his blood sweat and tears into getting this place up and running! When he's not in the salon you can find Wade either playing music in his band, or doing nerd stuff like messing around with his fish tank.

With a background in fine arts and illustration, I’ve always found an outlet of expression and creativity through hair. Born and raised in OC, Long Beach quickly became my true home 7 years ago. I’ve spent the past year as Marisa’s apprentice, as well as assisting under other stylists, taking in as much knowledge as possible. My specialty is razor haircutting and I plan to expand in color and lightening. I love creating punky mullets, shags, pixies and everything in between.

I’m excited to build a clientele at Freebirds salon and can’t wait to meet y’all!

I'm a California native, and I'm Long Beach born and bred, so I'm all about a look that's suited to each persons unique routine and style. You want a high-end, professional, tie-dye rainbow masterpiece that holds up to a long weekend of camping, bonfires, and too much craft beer? I got you, boo. I received my cosmetology license from the Career Academy of Beauty with special training in Sassoon cut and coloring, including a six month externship in a Vidal Sassoon salon. For me, styling is just as much about a personal connection as it is about a beautiful finished look. I'm here to make your head and your heart happy. Let's talk.

I’m Anastasia (Stasi for short)! I’m a stylist specializing in vivids, barbering,  and eccentric cuts and designs. I have been licensed for 6 years behind the chair and self employed for 4 of those. I am a single parent to a rad little human and 3 fuzzy felines! I’m a harm reductionist, chemistry nerd, and adventurist/traveller. I moved back to SoCal from the Midwest a few years ago and have been a Freebird ever since! As a fellow queerdo, I take pride in providing services to the LGBTQIA+ community and paving the way for my clients to be 100% authentically themselves 🖤 Knowing you feel safe in my chair is my ultimate goal- apart from making you feel as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside! I’ve been so lucky to have gained such a badass clientele at Freebirds and I hope to continue growing! My chair and I are waiting patiently for you to grace us (and I can’t WAIT to meet you!)

Much like Cher from clueless, Pru’s “One main thrill in life is a makeover.”  She was always big into all things beauty related from a very early age and convinced all of her friends to let her do their hair or makeup every time they came over. This lasted well into college. After pursuing multiple majors in university and being bored by all of them, Pru turned back to her first love- makeovers. She attended Paul Mitchell the School and went on to work in a salon in Newport before moving to Long Beach. Pru has now been an established stylist in Long Beach for the last few years, and makes an effort to stay up to date on the latest trends and techniques. She is driven by her passion to always make everyone feel their best. When Pru is not in the salon you can find her hanging out at the beach, watching horror movies, or doing a variety of crafts.

As a firm believer that life is too short for boring hair, Alyssa specializes in working with clients to deliver hair that best reflects their personality - whether through blonding, color correcting, balayage, haircutting or extentions. Hi! I’m Nata, just a silly goose that actually really likes deep talks and learning new things. I’ve been doing hair for over a decade and my passion for it grows stronger all the time. I started my career a lifetime ago in Seattle, WA where I started giving bathroom haircuts to queer and trans friends that weren't getting the results they were searching/asking for in salons and barber shops. Since then I have gained experience with both cut and color, from clipper cuts to long layers and from natural balayage to neon peek a boos. My main priority as a stylist is providing low maintenance and gender affirming hairstyles. I believe hair is one of the best tools we have to communicate who we are to the world around us. So why put limits on how we do that? I love providing a creative custom look and comfortable experience. The collaborative aspect of hair excites me; you come in with the idea and I will execute it, and hopefully you can leave feeling more like you!

My name is Markie Medina. I specialize in vivid colors, shags/ mullets, and I love a good retro wave!

When I’m not at the salon I am writing music with my boys of storm house. We’ve been a group for about 5 years now. Singing and writing poetry has always been my first passion in life and I am so blessed that it still plays a major role.

Other things I enjoy are running at the beach, scrap booking, collecting vinyl records, vintage/ antique shopping (any kind of shopping honestly 😅), and I love spending time with my friends and family.

Blue is a Hair Brujo hatched out from Hollywood CA. Blue first discovered their Magick at a young age; transforming their Barbies into an army of Unicorns. Hair was always on the radar and at the age of 19 they began the journey. Graduating from Toni and Guy Academy, Blue carried a solid foundation of technique and an innate affinity for color. After becoming licensed they honed their skills at an Aveda Salon for a few years before going independent. Specializing in Blonding, Balayage, Punk designs to Vivids Blue puts good JuJu in every potion they make. In addition to color Blue is fond of Razor Cutting and texture from straight to curly. But above all Blue’s joy is in connecting with everyone who sits in their chair. Connection and collaboration; Blue finds is the key to executing your look. When not doing hair you’ll find them and their partner out adventuring, or documenting the crazed antics of their cat. Education driven they are always looking to learn new skills and ready to have otherworldly conversations with anyone in their path.

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, I grew up in the heart and in the prime time of emo in the Midwest. I DIY'ed anything I could and hair was always my go-to form of creativity and catharsis. That hasn't changed since 2005.

I've been in the hair industry professionally for 10 years adamant on staying current while also staying true to my roots. I love using technical skills as well as intuition to create cool hair, whether it's making rainbows, mullets, or anything in between.

I recently moved across the country to Long Beach which has quickly become home. I couldn't be more excited to re-build a clientele here.
